Romeo and Juliet will go on tour
On 13 and 14 October the ballet Romeo and Juliet will be performed for the last time this year at the Mikhailovsky Theatre — the production is going to Japan.
The Mikhailovsky Theatre has had the ballet in its repertory since 1976: first, choreographed by Oleg Vinogradov, later by Nikolay Boyarchikov. In 2008, the theatre has got the new version of the ballet by Vinogradov produced in cooperation with stage designer Semyon Pastukh. It’s a highly individual rendering of the famous Shakespearian story created in the best traditions of Russian academic ballet theatre.

«We’d like the audience to perceive the plot in an active way; contemporary ballet must influence not only the feelings of the public but also their minds...» Oleg Vinogradov comments the production.

The main roles are to be performed by Nikolay Korypaev and Irina Perren (13 October), Denis Morozov and Sabina Yapparova (14 October), the Mikhailovsky Orchestra is to be lead by Pavel Bubelnikov.
