On September, 9 a press conference was held by the Head of the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks Vera Dementyeva and General Director of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Vladimir Kekhman. At presence of journalists the certificate of completion of the restoration was signed.
The allegoric painting appeared in the Mikhailovsky Theatre in 1859 at the time of the reconstruction of the building by Albert Kavos. During its history the canvas was restored four times: in 1894, 1939, 1950 and 1965, though, every time the restoration work was carried out on the place. In 2008, the plafond was dismantled for the first time from the date of its creation.
Vladimir Kekhman thanked the restorers, who carried out the work of highest quality and met the tough deadline.
The beginning of the 177th season will take place in the auditorium that has gained its historic look.
