Since June 2009 the Mikhailovsky Theatre starts close cooperation with the outstanding European musician Peter Feranec. He’s become Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre. The debut of Maestro at the Mikhailovsky Theatre took place in spring 2009: he conducted the operas La Traviata, Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades.
Vladimir Kekhman, General Director of the theatre, comments:
“On recommendation of Maris Jansons, a great musician and a wonderful person, whom I trust, I invited his pupil Peter Feranec to conduct several repertory performances. There appeared a cooperation and close artistic links between the orchestra, the singers and Maestro. So I fully supported the initiative of the Opera Council to offer Mr Feranec the cooperation with the theatre.”
