Pedro Alcalde will conduct Nacho Duato’s première performances
The famous Spanish conductor and composer Pedro Alcalde will conduct Nacho Duato’s première performances on 15, 16 and 31 March at the Mikhailovsky Theatre and on 19 March during the Moscow tour of the theatre.

Nacho Duato is working on his brand new work Nunc Dimittis
The first work by Nacho Duato for the Mikhailovsky Ballet Company is a one-act ballet Nunc Dimittis which will receive its world première on 15 March 2011. This new creation will be presented together with the Russian premières of two earlier one-act ballets by Nacho Duato, Without Words and Duende.



Changes in the repertory
The Mikhailovsky announces the changes in the January repertory. Due to prolongation of the rehearsal period for The Barber of Seville the premiere is postponed till April 2011.





End of the Japan Season
The Mikhailovsky Ballet Company has returned from Japan where it was on tour from 2 December 2010 to 17 January 2011. During this season the Mikhailovsky Theatre celebrated the 30th anniversary of tours to the country known for its love to ballet.



Leonid Sarafanov in the ballet Giselle
In January 2011 the renowned ballet dancer Leonid Sarafanov joined the Mikhailovsky Ballet Company. He made make his Mikhailovsky debut on 22 January in Adolphe Adam’s ballet
Giselle, ou Les Wilis where he was partnering Irina Perren.



Kát’a Kabanová received its première
On 16 December at the Mikhailovsky Theatre Leoš Janáček’s Kát’a Kabanová received its St Petersburg première. The main role was performed by Tatiana Ryaguzova, Natalia Biryukova appeared as Kabanicha, Mikhail Makarov as Tichon, Dmitry Popov as Boris, Alexey Kuligin as Kudrjas’, Sofia Fainberg as Varvara, Yury Monchak as Dikoj.
