Neil Shicoff and the Mikhailovsky Theatre Offer their Congratulations to the St. Petersburg Philharmonic
The St. Petersburg Philharmonic celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. As a special birthday treat, soloists and musicians from the Mikhailovsky Theatre will play — for one night only — not on their own stage, but on the stage of the Grand Hall of the Philharmonic.

Prelude: Reaction to the Premiere
The ballet Prelude has made its world premiere. Nacho Duato's new production demonstrated that the distance between classical and modern dance is not as great as we often think. The ballet proceeds as in a single breath, yet translating its impressions into simple language is none too easy. The ballet columnists of the daily papers are struggling with what is “lost in translation”.

Neil Shicoff will perform the part of Herman in
The Queen of Spades on 18 June
The Queen of Spades, based on Pushkin’s story, is one of Tchaikovsky’s most popular operas. On 18 June the audience will be treated to hearing the part of Herman sung by Neil Shicoff, a tenor with a unique voice and an outstanding dramatic talent.

Summer of Ballet
Throughout the glorious White Nights the Mikhailovsky Theatre is presenting the finest ballets in the repertoire of classical ballet. With the arrival of the warm summer evenings, when the chestnut trees are in bloom on Arts Square, and the scent of lilac drifts in from the Field of Mars, these immortal classics take on a special charm, appearing excitingly new.

Preparations Underway for Nacho Duato’s New Premiere
The world premiere of the one-act ballet, Prelude, will take place at the Mikhailovsky Theatre on June 14 2011.
