Opening of the 178th Season
The Mikhailovsky Theatre opened its 178th season with the two latest premieres — ballet Laurencia and opera Un ballo in maschera. On 15 September 2010 the luxurious theatre masterpiece of Stalin’s classicism — Chabukiani’s ballet Laurencia revived to celebrate the centenary from the birth of the great choreographer.
The main roles were performed by Irina Perren (Laurencia), Anton Ploom (Frondoso), and Mikhail Venshchikov (The Commander) under the baton of Valery Ovsyanikov.

On 16 September 2010 the opera season was opened by the new production of Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera staged by Andrejs Žagars. Maria Litke appeared as Amelia, Fyodor Ataskevich as Gustavo, Dmitry Darov as Renato; Music Director and Principal Conductor of the theatre Peter Feranec led the performance.
