The role of Rachel will be sung by Maria Litke (25 October) and Tatiana Ryaguzova (30 October). Maria Litke’s dramatic soprano will accentuate Eléazar’s daughter's strength and decisiveness, while Tatiana Ryaguzova’s lyrical voice will express the character’s feminine side. Svetlana Moskalenko and Natalia Mironova will each appear as Princess Eudoxie. Alexey Tanovitsky will play Cardinal de Brogni, a character destined to make a fateful decision. On 25 October the role of Léopold, Rachel’s unfaithful lover, will be sung by the Italian tenor Gian Luca Pasolini, a singer our audience is already familiar with. Fromental Halévy’s La Juive is one of the most complex works in the theatrical repertoire, in terms of both technique and psychology. It is aimed at an experienced theatregoer who can sympathize with the characters and appreciate the rich texture of the music. Only a group of outstanding singers, who also possess great acting talent, can bring to life the concept envisioned by the creators of this opera. We are confident that our cast will prove a success and that La Juive will be the theatrical highlight of the season in St. Petersburg this autumn. Purchase tickets to La Juive starring Neil Shicoff on 25 and 30 October
