Closing the Ballet SeasonOn July, 7 the Mikhailovsky Theatre is closing the ballet season with an original triple bill. |
| The public will see a one-act ballet after Marius Petipa Le Halte de cavalerie set to music by Ivan Armsheimer and Divertissements that includes classical and contemporary choreographic pieces and the new to the Mikhailovsky Ballet Company Polonaise and Cracovienne from the opera Ivan Susanin. The major event of the triple bill is the World Premiere of Slava Samodurov’s one-act ballet In a Minor Key set to music by Domenico Scarlatti. Slava Samodurov, a young choreographer and a principal dancer with the Covent Garden Royal Ballet, has created his first major piece in Russia for the Mikhailovsky Ballet. On this production the choreographer worked with London designers Christopher Faulds (sets design), Simon Bennison (lighting design), and Ellen Butler (costume design). Buy tickets |
