Bogdan MihaiBogdan Mihai started his musical life with violin lessons and because of his vocal qualities discovered by madame Cristina Magureanu at the Dinu Lipatti Music Highschool, he begins to study as a baritone, and later at the University of Music in Bucharest under baritone Nicolae Constantinescu. He discovered his new vocality as a tenor in Italy under the guidance of the legendary soprano Mirella Freni were he receved the Nicolai Ghiaurov scholarship and obtained also his Master Diploma in Belcanto at the Transilvania University in Brasov, Romania with soprano Mariana Nicolesco. Successful, in the field of belcanto roles, especially those of Gioachino Rossini: Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Il Conte Almaviva), La Cenerentola (Don Ramiro), Armida (Goffredo & Carlo), Aureliano in Palmira (Aureliano), Adelaide di Borgogna (Adelberto), also by Gaetano Donizetti: Don Pasquale (Ernesto), Parisina D’Este (Ugo), Gemma di Vergy (Tamas) and the Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss. When he made his debut at the Bucharest National Opera House with Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini and includeâ the final scene and aria “Cessa di piu resistere”, which due to extreme technical difficulties is avoided by the singers of the role. Bogdan Mihai is the first tenor ever to perform on a stage in Romania the difficult aria. He is invited to perform on big international stages like: Stuttgart Staatsoper, Dresden Semperoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Zurich Opernhaus (Switzerland), Theatre du Chatelet (Paris), Garsington Opera Festival (London), St. John’s Smith Square (London), Festival della Valle d’Itria (Martina Franca), Rossini Opera Festival (Pesaro), Suntory Hall (Tokyo), under important conductors such as Nello Santi, David Parry, Jean Christophe Spinosi, Alesandro De Marchi, Riccardo Frizza, Dmitri Jurowsky, Gullielmo Garcia Calvo, Horia Andreescu, Ion Marin, Giacomo Sagripanti. |
