At the Mikhailovsky Theatre Slava Samodurov is staging a new ballet set to music by Domenico Scarlatti. The idea of the ballet was born at London Heathrow Airport. ‘While waiting for the flight, I was listening in my iPod to a sonata by Scarlatti played by Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelić. Scarlatti’s music suggests some finality, but Pogorelić renders it in a different way, one can hear the melancholy given by constant repetition of the same things, events, people – and I had a clear vision of time stretched from the past to the present and set as a ring.’

Music feeds the movement like fuel… Two times are symbolically expresses and opposed in contemporary choreography and baroque music.
