Peter Feranec

Peter Feranec was born in 1964 in Bratislava (Slovakia). In 1985 after graduating from the Bratislava Academy of Music, he attended the Bartok International Festival and Seminar in Hungary
Peter made his debut as conductor at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in February 1995, leading an original-language production of Le Nozze di Figaro and was appointed Principal Conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre. At the Bolshoi he led the productions of Lucia di Lammermoor, La Bohéme, La traviata (Season 1995/96), Aida (1996/97), Love for three Oranges (1997/98).
From 1997 to 2000 Peter was a Guest Conductor of The St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmoniñ Orchestra, Orchestra du Capitol Toulouse, Pittsburg Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonics, Czech Philharmonics, Oslo Philharmonics, Moscow Symphonic Orchestra, Lisbon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and others.
He conducted opera performances at the Deutsche Oper (Don Giovanni), Koln Opera House (Il trittico, Love For Three Oranges), the Prague National Opera (Le Nozze di Figaro, Carmen, Rusalka, Adrienne Lecouvreur), Théâtre du Capitole (Eugene Onegin), the Mariinsky Theatre, Komische Oper in Berlin, the Teatro Colón, the Norwegian National Opera.
In the season of 2004/2005 he made his debut at the Zurich Opera where he conducted ballets Rubies and Theme and Variations, Le Sacre du printemps, The Nutcracker, and Cinderella.
From June 2009 till December 2011 Peter Feranec has been Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre. He became music director of the productions of Swan Lake, Rusalka, La Juive, Un ballo in maschera, La Bohème and The Sleeping Beauty.
