At the Mikhailovsky Theatre Slava Samodurov is staging a new ballet set to music by Domenico Scarlatti. The idea of the ballet was born at London Heathrow Airport. ‘While waiting for the flight, I was listening in my iPod to a sonata by Scarlatti played by Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelić.

Production of La Juive
On February 19, 2010 the Mikhailovsky Theatre presented a new production of La Juive by Jacques Halévy stages by Arnaud Bernard. The photos from the rehearsals sometimes remind documentaries, but it’s at the interface of life and art some new feelings and thoughts are born.

Production of Rusalka
On October 30, 2009 the Mikhailovsky Theatre premiered the opera Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák. The original production by Igor Konyayev who used unique videos became the result of work of many professionals – opera singers and ballet dancers of the Mikhailovsky Theatre, the stage director and his assistants, video directors and even mermaids.

Rehearsing Romeo and Juliet
In 2008 the Mikhailovsky Theatre saw the revival of the ballet by Sergey Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet choreographed by Oleg Vinogradov. The long-awaited revival of the ballet at the Mikhailovsky Theatre became a great event both for the public and for the dancers.
