On May 11, 13 and 31 the Mikhailovsky Theatre will present the premiere of the opera La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini's directed by the famous French director Arnaud Bernard.
La Bohème is one of the best works of the mature composer, in which sad and moving love story between the main characters is woven into the colorful picture of Parisian bohemians’ life – life of young people who have dedicated themselves to the art. Each of them has dreams of recognition, success and love, but life is not in a hurry to reward their expectations. Loss and disappointment await the heroes. The plot of the book Scenes of Bohemian Life (1851) by Henry Murger, which formed the basis of the libretto, was revised by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. Arnaud Bernard as the director, lighting designer and stage designer of the premiere production will present his interpretation of the classical opera to the audience.
